THE FLUTE PROGRAM AT THE DOMINICAN SISTERS SCHOOL OF MUSIC in Fremont, California is open to intermediate and advanced level flutists of all ages. Space is limited and entry is by audition only. The program includes:
Instrument technique, music theory, solo repertoire, and chamber music repertoire.
Three yearly solo and chamber music recital performances in the School of Music Recital Hall.
Coaching and preparation for competitons and auditions.

Dr. Palmer holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts from Rice University where she studied with Carol Wincenc. Her awards include first prize in the Carmel Chamber Music Competition, second prize in the NFA Young Artist Competition, a Carnegie Recital Debut with Artists International, and a grant from the San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music. A former member of the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, she is a solo recording artist and the lead artist of Black Cedar.
She is the author of the book, Ornamentation According to C.P.E. Bach and J.J. Quantz, and she is a frequent guest lecturer and clinician on the subject of Baroque and Classical performance practices. American Music Teacher Magazine writes, "Clearly, Palmer is knowledgeable about ornamentation...her knowledge of the subject is very thorough."

Allison Chang – winner of a Young Recitalist Award from the Fremont Symphony, and second prize winner in the U.S. Open Music Competition.

Updates of former DSSM flute studio members:
Jennifer Jo is entering her third year as a flute performance major at Carnegie Mellon University as a student of Jeanne Baxtresser. She has also been invited to participate in the National Symphony Orchestra’s Summer Music Institute.
Golnesa Safavi is now in her second year of pre-med studies at U.C. San Diego.
Velvia Lau just completed her first year of studies in the Chinese and Western Medicine program at Guangzhou University.
